Birth Story
My pregnancy overall was good – except the usual tiredness and I couldn’t stand the smell of anything at all. Only got sick once when I took a pre-natal vitamin on empty stomach and one other time of morning sickness.
At 6 months on June 19th I had a Tupperware party at my home with friends, etc. It was actually at a time in my pregnancy where I was feeling perfectly fine for once! It was a hot day and our air decided not to work as well. I did stay very hydrated that day. After the party at about 10pm and then on my stomach was feeling upset. I assumed it was because I ate to much cheese & sausage & crackers! This continued all night without sleep and early am on June 20th,2002 I called my nurse. She told me to get to the hospital right away. When I got there I was half way dilated and they had to try to keep me in labor as long as possible and pumped steroids in me. After a very long day – evening she wanted out – it was incredible the amount of water there was when it broke, it seemed like it flooded the room! I was about to have her naturally (asking, what about an epidural? – the nurse said there is no time) yikes! So, they saw her and then she turned the wrong way and they unhooked everything around me as quick as they could because they had to take me to another room and perform and emergency c-section. It literally was like a crazy ER scene and my husband Rob can attest to that as well. There was so much noise and I remember the doc saying to the nurse to make sure to take off my rings. So the doc told me to think of any place I’d rather be and that was it. (well, they never did take off the rings he said!)
But, the next thing I knew they wheeled me to my husband and he told me I had a beautiful baby girl.
Everything in general was fine – was on ventilator for breathing, etc.
